I recently did a girls trip with my friend Alex of Couples Coordinates to Tulum and Cancun in Mexico. About a 4 hour flight from LAX, Mexico is easily accessible to west coasters. For my international friends, it is well worth the trip trust me! Tulum is a raw, natural beauty. There is so much to do and so many places to explore that are completely unique. If you are looking for stunning beaches, take a 2 hour bus ride to Cancun for electric blue waters. These were our favorite places to explore, eat, and stay!
Walk through the white sand as you explore the Mayan ruins in Tulum. See the old architecture of those that came before us, and smell the soft sea breeze as you gaze out over a view of the Caribbean. Make sure to get there early before it gets too hot and crowded!
If you are looking to unplug and have a break from your phone, step back in time to this incredible place. Everything is candle lit and eco-friendly. There is wifi in the lobby, but I enjoyed having a break from virtual reality. The lack of artificial light creates a beautiful view of the clear night sky. There are so many plants and trees all around the property that it felt like I was in a jungle, and yet white sand beaches were only a few footsteps away….
Dos Ojos cenotes
This is one of my favorite places in the world. We drove to Dos Ojos cenotes and swam for hours as the sunlight lit up the natural pool in hues of green and blue. Some of them are more touristy than others, so if you get there early enough you will have this incredible gem all to yourself. Put this at the top of your list, the cenotes alone are worth the whole trip.
Make sure you also explore the underwater caves while you are there. You can rent scuba gear and swim under the caves. I was blown away by this place…it’s raw beauty will make you melt.
Our favorite restaurant was Hartwood! Make sure that you call and make a reservation first because it gets packed at night. Enjoy some of the most incredible seafood (particularly the grilled octopus), and traditional Mexican food in Tulum!
If you are looking for beautiful white sand beaches with perfect turquoise water…this is the place for you. It is also great for snorkeling and scuba diving because of the reef. The water is warm and the sunsets are so vibrant you won’t want to miss a single one.
We stayed at Club Med Yucatan, an all inclusive resort. The property is huge and there are several different restaurants, so for someone with a lot of food allergies this place was perfect! The beach wraps around the resort with quiet water. Some parts have more reef than others for water activities.
