“Connection is why we’re here; it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives. The power that connection holds in our lives was confirmed when the main concern about connection emerged as the fear of disconnection”- Dr. Brene Brown
There is an epidemic of numbness and disconnect on the planet. Disconnect manifests as tragedy. It is the root cause of suffering because we cannot feel we are all one. It is how people leave trash all over Mother Nature- we forget that we are an intrinsic part of her. Too often do I receive messages saying we do not have the luxury of time to look within ourselves when everyone is just trying to survive. When we don’t face our own souls, we disconnect. We cannot give what we do not have, and by finding the love within ourselves we can then bring love with us everywhere we go. We can be like a lighthouse, brightening even the darkest corners of the world. It is undeniable that every single day we have an impact, and it is time to wake up and make that impact one of love.
This solar eclipse has been all about letting go of old shadow. Shedding that which is not truly us so that we can fully step into the light. A month ago, I was at a yoga festival in Lake Tahoe and reconnected with a beautiful couple who created Bahgsu Jewels, Chris and Madgi. They are true lighthouses- the type of people where you just feel warmth and love being in their presence. I came across a ring (see photo) of a woman sitting within a lotus, pregnant with Moonstone. Moonstone is a crystal of the divine feminine energy, and Madgi told me the ring was created as a totem to honor mothers, particularly a very special one. They had lost Chris’s aunt, Vicki Wolfrum in October. She truly embodied what it means to be a goddess. She was a high priestess, birthed over 3,500 babies, and was president of the SD Breast feeding coalition. She was the type of woman who made time to help everyone, and I could feel her vibrant spirit through the story. I believe that she is the representation of how we heal this world. By tapping into the infinite well of love inside her, she was limitless in the people she could help. When we heal ourselves, we heal this world. Making time to uplift each other is how we honor life. Love is an action, an action of showing up for what we are called to do from moment to moment. One of my favorite quotes from Tony Robbins is, “living is giving.” The most fulfilling practice is knowing we are limitless in the light we can bring to the world.
